Michael Craig Martin
He was born on the 28 th of august 1941.He is Irish.
He was influenced by many artists : A priest near his Roman catholic school,Mark Rothko or Antonio Roda.He was also influenced by the multi-disciplinary experiment on colour and form at Yale College.
He's an artist-painter.he works mainly with everyday house hold objects eg chair, glass of water, nails etc.His work are based on primary colours with no tones, shadings or shadows.
Earlier in his life he learnt about the colour wheel and how to put cold and warm colours next to each other. He inspired me to be brave and pick the colours I wanted in the mural I am working on.
My oppinion:
His
style helps me simplify my work, especially my mural project. One lined drawings
can be really simple and show the image really well. The focal point is the
object not the lines. The bold/contrasting colours that he uses make the image
popup and stands out.
The
technique that I love using, but Michael Craig martin did not use was blending.
Blending helps the painting to look more realistic and easy to your eyes. If
you do not blend, colours would appear as if they are in parts and would not tell
the story or the theme you are trying to show.
